These Contemporary Perspex earrings are made using the actual fern leaves. They are made using my own method of dying and embossing plastic which I call fossilized Plastic due to the fine detail which it is possible to capture on the embossed surface so they are similar to fossils. I collect dry and press the actual leaves and then heat the Perspex and press them into the surface to emboss. Then I use another heat process to apply the colours using the leaf like a stencil. I then peel off the leaf. The edges are faceted and hand polished.

I have been making acrylic contemporary jewellery with wild flower designs since 2005. My inspiration is to share what has cheered me up and got me through the tough times. It all started at a difficult period of my life when I was going through a tough time. In order to cope with it I started try to empty my head of everything and just be in the moment. I become aware of what was around me. Listen to the sounds and notice where I was. I became enormously comforted by how beautiful the world is. So I started working with plants leaves and flowers and developed this method of capturing the detail of the plants . I wanted to share this with people who wear my jewellery.
